Day on the Farm

We've had alot of family in town over the past few weekends, so we've had a flurry of activity in our house. This weekend my parents came up to go see the Celtic Women at Wolf Trap and we always try to plan an event with for the whole family to do at least one of the two days they are here. For this visit, we planned to go blueberry picking at one of the local pick your own farms - Great Country Farms.

It took us about 45 minutes to get out to the farm, but it was well worth the trip. For $5, there was U pick blueberries and blackberries (additional $s for what you pick), multiple petting zoos, mazes, tires mountains to climb, big slides, tractors to race (tricycles styled to look like tractors).

Andrew lasted about 15 minutes in the blueberry field and then announced he only needed one more and then he was done.

So he and Colin walked back to the general store to rest up for the cow train and hay ride, singing "Old MacDonald" all the way. Check out Andrew's idea of "resting"

All in all, I'd call the day a success...we got enough blueberries to last us at least two weeks, Andrew had a blast feeding the goats and pigs, driving the tractors, riding the cow train and even made 2 new friends with a little grey kitten and a piglet named Wilbur. Definitely a place we will visit again!
